In Feb-24, there was approximately a 20% year-on-year (YoY) decline in export volumes for Peruvian figs, mangoes, pomegranates, and asparagus impacted by El Niño experienced in 2023. These crops require sufficient cold hours during winter to accumulate energy for fruit production in subsequent seasons. However, the lack of cold hours in 2023 has led to reduced production volumes, resulting in a significant decrease in the quantity exported.
