The Pistachio industry in the United States shipped out a record volume of 837M lbs (380K MT) for the crop year (CY) 2021/2022. This is just about 17% ahead of last year and 4% higher than the record year of 2018/2019. The carryover from the previous crop will be about 354M lbs (160K MT) into the 2022/2023 season. Even if this may seem like a large number, the 2022 crop estimation is decreasing. The original estimate at the INC conference was 1B lbs (455K MT), and now it is under 900M lbs (408K MT) and may end up at 850M lbs (385K MT). Pistachios are coming in with higher closed shell levels and smaller nuts. Most packers are now off the market, waiting to see their final crop intake.
