Pomegranate Season in Egypt Commenced in August and Is Later Than Usual

The 2022 Egyptian pomegranate seasons kicked off with the 116 variety in mid August with most of the exports going to UAE, KSA and Russia. The production of 116 has ended with the two main varieties in the Egyptian market in W38 being Baladi and Wonderful. Baladi is usually harvested by mid September, but thus far the colour is not full yet, so the production will be late this year, running until the last week of September. Wonderful is also expected to be harvested later than usual, by the beginning of October. Egypt usually has high demand for Wonderful from Europe and Far East markets.
