Cold weather during spring bloom and dry summer heat resulted in a very poor harvest of wild forest bilberries. They are produced in small size and in low brix. A modest harvest of wild bilberries this year is observed not only in Ukraine, but also in Belarus and Baltic countries. In this regard, most Ukrainian producers of frozen berries were forced this year to reorient themselves to freezing other berries, such as black and red currants and raspberries. According to insider data, some contracts signed in the spring for the supply of frozen wild forest bilberries are in danger of disruption or under supply.
