The Portuguese fishery caught 185,417 MT of seafood in 2021. This represents a 13.2% increase compared to the 2020. In the most recent report, released by INE, this increase is justified by the bigger volume of Sardine, Horse Mackerel, and Atlantic Mackerel. This also led to a decrease in the average price of the seafood caught, from EUR 2.30/kg (USD 2.47/kg) in 2020 to EUR 2.28/kg (USD 2.45/kg) in 2021.
