Price forecasts for Chia crops are hardly done much in advance because the last stage of the crop before harvest is during the coldest period of winter. This means that there is always a risk of frost until the previous stage of the crop.
The data on the area sown this year will be available in the coming weeks; the planting has already been completed, but collecting the data will take a couple of weeks.

One of the largest producers of Chia in Paraguay, which supplies the seed to most of the exporters and processing plants of this product, has already announced that its prices will remain the same this year due to the significant loss last year. This producer handles between 6,000/mt and 7,000/mt of Chia from his production, being a determining player in the Paraguayan price of Chia, between 25% and 35% of the total production in Paraguay.

Although this helps to have a better outlook and estimate, it is still too early to ensure a low price for the beginning of the harvest season. Other Exporters are closing contracts with smaller producers and securing a smaller volume at a better price. And in turn, they are offering contracts to supply that volume at USD 3,500/mt for conventional and USD 3,800/mt for organic.
