Australian rice growers started harvesting rice in March after a year without drought. The lack of water has been a problem for Australia in the last 15 years, and especially for a crop like rice, which depends highly on it.

Last year, seeing the lowest crops recorded for rice in Australia, the country had a total production of 47,000 tonnes. This year, 2021, however, growers have already picked more than last year, forecasting around 450,000 tonnes to be harvested.
