Rising prices of feed materials affects the growth of Thai chicken meat exports.

Chicken farms and Thai chicken manufacturers informed their clients that the product price will increase in 2022, due to a 20% increase in feed materials. The proportion of feed materials is 70% of the growth of Thai chicken meat exports which is the largest proportion.

Cost breakdown of growing chicken (for meat) in Thailand is as follows:
70%, Feeds (from birth to 40 days age)
16%, 1-day old chicks
5%, Animal vaccines & Medical supplies
4%, Utilities
5%, Others (Depreciation, Labor, Operation, Interests, …)

The chicken feed includes maize, soybean and soybean meal that has to be imported from overseas, main sources of imported are the United States, Brazil and Argentina. Roughly usage number of major feed materials in 2021, All Thai farms including broiler and swine, for 8.4 million tons of maize and 4.9 million tons of soybean meal.
