In general, Brazil is on off-season from Sep to May as the majority of sesame seeds are harvested from June due to their concentration in the Midwest. During the off-season, Brazilian industries are facing a lack of product.
In order to take advantage of this situation, considering that sesame has a short cycle and is a drought-resistant crop, some producers located in the Southeast are planting it in December, as a sugarcane rotation crop.
