According to the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), the main beef producer state in Brazil, Mato Grosso, is beginning to decree collective vacations due to the difficulty in finding animals ready for slaughter. October tends to have one of the largest feedlots, allowing a greater supply of animals, but this year the volume has been below demand.

The factors that may have resulted in this low supply of animals are the sum of a low number of calf births in 2017/18 and the consequences of the COVID pandemic.

The forecast, for now, is of tight scales and little supply of cattle in the state, according to the bulletin. "For the next few months, there is evidence of a constant in the current scenario, since the availability of animals remains restricted, which may even be an atypical movement for the period", explains Imea.
