South Africa is expected to produce 2.176MMT of wheat in 2022/23, which is a 5% decline from the 2.285MMT produced in the 2021/22 season. This is because the area planted with wheat will decrease by 8% from 523,500 hectares. As a net importer, South Africa is expected to import 1.45MMT of wheat in the 2022/23 season.
