The 2022 harvest of Chandler walnuts in Spain is expected to start in two weeks (W39/40) beginning in the region of Andalusia. Production volumes are expected to increase by 15% compared to last year. The aggressively low US prices for the new crop, the drop in prices of the Chilean walnut and the increase in production volume are forcing Spanish producers to adjust their prices downward to this reality in order to enter new markets. Last year the Spanish season started at EUR 3.80/kg EXW for size 32/34 while this year the reduction will be substantial starting at EUR 2.80/kg EXW.
