The Argentinian squid season commenced in W2 for some vessels at Parallel 49, with a significant percentage operating in the authorized zone on the continental maritime shelf of Argentina. On average, vessels had a fishing duration of 3 days, yielding catches ranging between 8 and 10 metric tons (mt) per day, far below the ideal capture target of 25 mt per day. In terms of sizes, 50% of the catches were SS (15-18 cm, 100-200g), 40% were S sizes (18-23 cm, 200-300g), and only 10% comprised the larger sizes M and Large. Some exporters quoted price at USD 3,400/mt for SS and USD 3,500/mt for S. However, many sales or contracts do not yet have a confirmed price.
