Stable and reasonable price of Taiwan’s rice

Based on rumors about the price increase of white rice in grocery stores, the Agriculture and Food Agency stated on 14 December that the average wholesale price of white japonica rice was USD 1.28 per kilo, compared with the average monthly wholesale price of USD 1.27 in November. This month’s wholesale prices of the white japonica rice showed a slight upward trend in the past five years (2016-2020). The average monthly wholesale price of japonica white rice per kilogram was USD 1.22 and USD 1.39 in December. And the price was still within the range above. The stability is reasonable, and the inventory is sufficient. If an abnormal increase is found, public grain rice will be released in accordance with the normal expansion of market demand to maintain market supply and price stability.
