Pigeon pea prices in Tanzania have experienced a price drop especially for Mtwara and Arusha varieties. Mtwara farmgate prices range from USD 0.34-0.38/kg while traders are selling at USD 0.43-0.44/kg, which is a drop of USD 0.30/kg from the previous price. Arusha farmgate prices range from USD 0.43-0.47/kg while traders are selling at USD 0.91-0.99/kg, which is a drop in price of USD 0.23/kg. The drop in price is a result of high volumes of Mtwara and Arusha pigeon peas available in the market coupled with lower demand from India.
