The onset of the Indian festival season is likely to boost demand for Tanzanian pigeon peas and increase prices by 11–13% to USD 97.26–99.69 per 100 kg by the end of September or the beginning of October onwards. Demand for pulses, especially pigeon peas, remains about 10% higher as consumption increases during the Navratri, Dusshera, and Diwali festivals. It is expected to increase further as the Indian government's National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd.(Nafed) has put out a tender to buy imported pigeon peas.
