22% YoY Increase in Paraguayan Chia Seed Exports

Growers in Paraguay have been storing chia seeds in recent weeks. Over the past month, chia seed exports reached 31 thousand metric tons (mt) compared to last year's 24 thousand mt in the same period, an increase of about 22% year-over-year (YoY). The weekly prices in W38 have been stable, ranging from USD 2,050 to 2,200/MT (FOB). In 2022, over 50% of Paraguayan chia seed exports were shipped to the European Union (EU). Large buyers and exporters are speculating on the market to make business decisions that will cause a price increase in the upcoming months.
