The domestic price of areca nut in Myanmar has increased

Before the COVID-19 lockdown, there was a massive illegal import of Indonesian areca nut from Thailand into the Myanmar domestic market that the Indonesian areca nuts were low quality and very price competitive. But by the end of 2020, the increasing price of container and shipment did not favor illegal trading of areca nut anymore. Thus the Burmese areca nut has gained a bigger market share and the price goes up.
