The notorious lack of rain in October is affecting Argentina's main production area, the "core zone," which includes Buenos Aires, La Pampa, Cordoba, and Santa Fe. The drought threatens the main commodity crops grown in the area and the economy since 70% of the Argentine foreign currency inflow is from the agribusiness chain. Plantations of wheat in the core zone already have 40% of their productivity in poor conditions that will not recover. Argentina is now facing three years of drought in a row, with this one being the worst by far.
