The exceptional weather conditions of Güéjar Sierra, combined with fertile lands and good quality of the water (coming directly from the melting of the glaciers of Sierra Nevada) help grow a unique cherry. It is appreciated by local and international customers. Around 1M mt of cherry is produced in the local area each season. The growers choose different heights (between 1000 and 2000 meters above sea level) to plant trees in order to maximize the harvest period: the higher it grows, the later it will be harvested. The Hudson variety, representative of the area, presents a typical sweet taste with deep dark cherry color and great size and is available from June to September.
