The Tanzanian government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, is completing the construction of three collection, storage, and sorting centres with the aim of facilitating efficiency and quality in the transportation of vegetables and fruits from the fields to the final consumer inside and outside the country. The stations will be built in Dar es Salaam port, Siha in the Kilimanjaro region, and Mufindi in the Iringa region. The goal is to give priority to fruit and vegetable crops from the time they are transported from the fields in the regions until they are transported to ports, borders, or airports. The government has planned to increase income from the sale of fruit and vegetable products abroad from the current level of USD 750M to USD 2B by 2030.
