Despite still being one of the major importing countries for chicken meat, the Indonesian chicken meat industry has actually recorded a positive growth when it comes to the export volume of chicken fat. In the first half of 2020, the export of chicken fat from Indonesia to neighboring countries such as Papua New Guinea and East Timor grew by 12% in comparison to the same period in the previous year. Despite chicken fat not being one of the strategic commodities that Indonesia can offer, the animal fat industry has (so far) been able to offset the export-generated revenue that has been pretty much challenged by the slowing down of the economy in general as caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
