Live hog price has fallen in the Vietnamese market

The price of live pigs is continuously going down, in some places, it has decreased by US$ 0.43 - 0.52/ kg compared to the previous month. The present price is US$ 3.02/kg, even at US$ 2.85/kg at few places in Hanoi. Not only the price of live pigs in small businesses and households is reduced, but also in large scale companies is adjusted to the above price mark.

The explanation for the sharp drop in pig price is due to the sharp increase in imported pigs from Thailand to Vietnam. Meanwhile, the purchasing power in the market decreased, the output of pigs also dropped sharply. At the same time, the easy outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) made many farms worried and selling earlier than planned at cheaper prices.
