Indonesian cuttlefish (species: Sepia spp.) has recently been in demand by European countries, especially Italy and Spain, in the form of whole cleaned and treated finished products. However, Indonesian suppliers are struggling to fulfill the demand due to a shortage of cuttlefish, which has been in low season in the North Java Sea, their biggest source. Cuttlefish prices have increased by 35% MoM, from USD 3/kg to USD 4.5–5/kg in W40. The catch was estimated to improve within October, which has not yet occurred.
