A local variety of banana from Central Java province called Kirana banana has now been widely produced by the local farmers in this province. Based on the data released by the local representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, the total area of plantation lands has now reached 40 Ha, up from the total area from last year at 28 Ha. This banana variety has recently emerged as the first choice for the hotel and restaurant industry in Central Java, due to the combination of its good quality and competitive price in comparison to the cavendish banana. And now, the local government is trying to seek help from Indonesia's trade attaché in countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia to further promote this banana variety to those countries' consumers. The Central Java province itself has been experiencing a major improvement in the agricultural sectors in recent years with new plantations being developed across the province, including for some strategic commodities such as vanilla and strawberry.
