Earlier this week, the Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia released its projection of white sugar production nationally until the end of 2020. It is projected that the national industry is on pace to collectively produce around 2.24 MMT which would exceed its achievement last year by at least 7.7%.
The bulk of this production output would primarily be manufactured in the Southern region of Sumatra, where most of the big processing facility is located. Moreover, the government would urge the national industry to meet this projection, in order to limit the necessity to import sugar from other countries in preparation for the long holiday from December to early January 2021.
