Chicken feed prices in Turkey increased by 201% YoY due to the increase in the exchange rates and general global inflation. As a result, the average egg price rose from USD 0.05 in 2021 to USD 0.13 in 2022, an increase of 160% YoY. The major contributors are the increase in feed prices, which constitutes 68% of the cost of egg production, the rise in electricity prices by 140%, increase in diesel oil prices by 125%, and an increase in labour costs by an average of 80%. A similar price trend increase was experienced in exports, which made trade difficult. According to the most recent data, Turkey is the second largest chicken egg exporting country after the Netherlands, with the most exported countries being the UAE, Syria, Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman.
