The representative of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN has called for collaboration among southern African countries in order to combat locusts infestation that has endangered the agricultural productivity in the region. A cross border collaboration is necessary due to the fact that these insects and pests move in masses and across borders in less than 24 hours, and therefore more effective to combat it regionally. The regions inside Mozambique in greatest risk of these plagues are in Central Mozambique's Sofala province and Niassa province.
