In October, Uganda exported coffee worth USD 67.1M, one of the highest monthly sales to ever be achieved. Robusta was the most exported variety, amounting to USD 53.25M, followed by Arabica with USD 13.85M. Italy maintained its position as the biggest importer of Ugandan coffee, followed by Germany and India. In 2022/23 global coffee production is expected to increase by 7.8M bags to 175M bags, amounting to 10.5MMT, mainly due to the biennial production cycle of Brazil's Arabica coffee. At the same time, global consumption is also projected to increase by 108,000MT and reach 10.02 MMT, with the largest increases expected in Europe, the USA, Japan, and Brazil. Domestically, the main harvest season in the central and eastern regions of Uganda started early in November and will peak in December and January.
