In Costa Rica, unexpected rains of up to 20mm during the start of W11 generated uncertainty for melon producers in the larger producing areas in the country. Rainy weather conditions increase the susceptibility of melon plants to attack by pathogens, causing a significant part of the fruit not to reach international markets due to possible quality problems.
