The United States has banned the importation of palm oil from Malaysia whose products are found in various goods for fear that the commodity plantation workers will face abuse issues (forced labor concerns).
Palm oil is a commonly used ingredient from processed foods to cosmetics and Malaysia is the second-largest producer of the oil after its neighboring country, Indonesia.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency announced this week that it banned imports of palm oil from one of the major producers of the commodity following a year-long investigation.
