Spain’s Verna Lemon Season Is Set to Start With the Expectation of Scarcity

The Spanish Primofiori lemon campaign is ending, and the Verna variety is expected to begin in 10 days (as of 5 April 2023). The Verna lemon trades at USD 1.63/kg, USD 0.54/kg higher than Primofiori at USD 0.98/kg EXW. Therefore, customers prefer purchasing as large quantities of Primofiori as possible to be able to keep its price low on most of their purchases. In addition, the adverse weather conditions suffered during the summer of 2022 affected the flowering of the Verna variety, resulting in a significant shortage of Spanish lemons expected in the coming months.
