The export demand of Vietnam's dragon fruit fell 10% from January to November 2020 compared to the same period in 2019. China is the largest export market for Vietnam's dragon fruit, accounting for 92.3% of overall exports. The other markets are EU, US, Australia, Japan and others. As reported by Vietnam's local news, the demand has fallen mainly due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The production area for dragon fruit in Vietnam is around 57,000 hectare, with output more than 500,000 tonnes. The numbers have increased 20-fold from 2010 to 2020, as stated by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's report.
