In the first 9 months of the year, Vietnam exported seafood to 154 markets, in which the top 6 markets are Japan, the US, China, the EU, South Korea, and ASEAN are accounted for nearly 80% of export turnover. The US Exports fell sharply in April and May at the peak of the 2nd COVID epidemic, but after that, it recovered strongly thanks to a sharp increase in shrimp exports.

China surpassed the EU to become the third-largest seafood import market in Vietnam in the first 9 months of 2020. After falling sharply in the first 2 months of the year due to the impact of the COVID - 19 epidemic. Exports to China in September increased sharply by 50% compared to the same period last year.

Seafood exports to the EU declined continuously due to the global pandemic. The export to the Netherlands and Italy decreased by nearly 30% followed by Germany (14%). Vietnamese seafood enterprises are expecting the EVFTA agreement will provide opportunities to boost the export of frozen seafood products to the EU.
