Wet conditions around New Zealand impacted the sheep shearing season and, eventually, affected the volumes sent to the sale yards. It had little impact on cattle, and buyers continued to make their spring purchases in preparation for dryer and better grazing conditions coming, typically at this time of year as we are approaching spring. In W38, the prices stood at USD 3.89/kg for steer P2 from North Island, remaining unchanged from last week, and lamb prices from North Island stood at USD 5.49/kg, representing a 0.5% WoW increase. Exporters expect export prices to stay firm until late spring or early summer.
