The heatwave that struck US Pacific Northwest in Week 26 has severely limited the cherry supply out of Washington, the largest cherry-producing state in the country. Given its strong domestic pricing, suppliers sell to the US first and internationally second, limiting availability for key Asian export markets. Export to Korea is particularly short as the importing country requires fumigation resulting in an even smaller supply pool.
