In Jul-24, as Eastern Europe and the North and West Balkans enter their watermelon production season, Spain, Greece, Turkey, and Italy are already in their peak production period. Despite adequate supply, demand has been significantly lower due to cloudy and rainy weather in major Western and Northern European countries, even amidst major events. Watermelon prices have sharply declined, with seeded varieties at about USD 0.30 per kilogram (kg) and seedless varieties plummeting to USD 0.45/kg. In Albania, buying prices have dropped to USD 0.20/kg Free on Board (FOB), contrasting with the USD 0.90/kg in Northern Italy.
