Floods Affected the Expected Production of Red Lentils in Australia During December 2022

Australian sellers started to take an active role in the red lentil market. Due to the floods experienced, there were different scenarios for the crop. However, by the end of December, the situation for the red lentil crop was almost clear. Total production tonnage at approximately 900K tons. Overall, 20% of the expected production was damaged. In terms of quality, it is forecasted that some red lentils may have shriveled grain problems. However, it will not affect the market, and Australia will be competitive in the world lentil market within 2023.
