Week 25: Citrus Packed and Shipped in South Africa

The South African citrus association adjusted the citrus export forecast for 2022. The export forecast volume has been decreased by 3.7 million cartons for the remainder of 2022. The adjustment was applied to all groups for grapefruit, mandarin, lemon, Navel variety orange, and Valencia variety orange, but is mostly from Navel variety of oranges (down 1.5 million cartons) and grapefruit (down by 1.1 million cartons). Smaller decreases from Valencia oranges (600,000 cartons), mandarin (down 400,000 cartons), and lemon (100,000 cartons). So far in 2022, 13.6 million cartons of grapefruit, 12.8 million cartons of mandarin, 20.5 million cartons of lemon, 12.7 million cartons of navel orange, and 3.2 million cartons of Valencia orange have been packed, and 11.2 million cartons of grapefruit, 10.7 million cartons of mandarin, 18.5 million cartons of lemon, 9.1 million cartons of navel orange, and 1.5 million cartons of Valencia orange have been shipped.
