As Covid-19 impacted on tourism, gastronomy, and catering, it directly affected the whole shrimp market. Sales dropped about 56% below 2019 in volume and 62% in currencies, considering that the average price fell by 14%. Exports reached a total of 25K tons which were sold for U$D 127M. Spain’s consumption fell by 62.5% purchasing at an average price of U$D 4,960/ton, thus scoring a collection 68% lower compared to last year. Italy is the second most important market (very far from Spain in terms of volume) and Japan third, in which sales fell by 34% and 19% respectively, although prices were above U$D 5K/ton. China’s consumption placed them fourth (it used to hold 2nd place) purchasing less than 3K tones out of the usual 9K tones, meaning a reduction of 68% at a steady value of U$D 5K/ton
