Price-In-Charts: Rising Fresh Grape Prices make China's Dependence on Imports Even Higher

Grape prices rose +103.05% YoY at the end of August 2021. The surge occurred ahead of April with the highest value of around 2.28 USD per KG and remained at the highest position of 2.31 USD per KG in the past week. Meanwhile, in 2020 China managed to increase its exports significantly by 1.2B USD by also importing 1B USD. However, the surge in prices affects China's trade market in 2021. In fact, China's imports soared, especially from Chile, on the other hand, the value of China's exports experienced a significant decline in April 2021. Importers whose value has fallen include Asian countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines.
