Hamble now has its very own butcher shop, which will also serve the Netley and Bursledon communities that are nearby, after being without one for more than two decades. Jake Chambers's traditional butcher shop, Chambers of Hamble, opened in September 2018 to much fanfare.
Jake is following in the footsteps of Fred Rolfe, his grandfather, who was a well-known butcher in Netley for 33 years before the shop closed in August 2003. Sadly, Fred passed away in 2018, but he was very supportive of the plans his grandson was making, and he went to the shop on Coronation Parade just before Jake did the renovation.
Chambers of Hamble sells free-range produce of high quality and tries to source meat from as close to home as possible. Their beef, for example, comes from Totton and the New Forest. In addition, Jake has discovered the cherished recipe for his grandfather's famous sausages, which he will sell in his shop alongside a variety of new and traditional flavors.
