STRATOS SA was founded in 1996 with the main object to produce and market fresh Mediterranean fish (sea bream – sea bass, meagre, etc.).

The company is held by a family with long experience in this sector since 1984. In the same year, its founder also founded the first fish farming unit in Evia but also among the first in the Greek territory. The sea site where the company has established its off-shore facilities is in North Evia, more specifically, at the Channel of Orei. This Channel, as described in the Environmental study of the North Euboean Gulf and more precisely, of the Channel, carried out by the University of Crete and the Hellenic Center for Marine under the scientific responsibility of Dr. E. Papanastasiou with the Oceanographic Ship “Aegean”, is the cleanest and liveliest gulf of the Mediterranean out of those researched up to the present date. The intense tide and currents in the channel with the enormous volume of water invading the Aegean is an ideal environment for fish farming.
