Higher operational costs for milk production in the Cantabrian region during the outbreak

Milk farmers of the Cantabrian region and highly efficient. 1,000 farmers alone can produce 433,116 metric tons of milk. The recent outbreak of COVID19 has put pressure on milk prices and farmers now are reporting losses. The operational costs for the farmers are higher than the €0.32/litre paid on average by consumers. €700,000 have been approved to compensate farmers for their losses and to reinforce the sector to make sure the farmers and heads increase in the coming years.
