According to an estimate, 200 containers of fresh red onion are arriving every week at Colombo port from Pakistan. However, the demand is still higher than the supply in the Sri Lankan local market, causing the prices of red onion to rise more. In an attempt to seize this opportunity, the Pakistani suppliers are trying their best to secure as many containers as possible, which has eventually led to a severe shortage and hike in containers' prices, eventually leading to a chaotic situation.
