Strong import demand from the United States, Mexico, and Chile coupled with smaller crop yields from Australia made for a good year for Canadian oat producers and exporters. Canada's oat crop surpassed 4.5 million MTs in 2020, the largest in 10 years, further boosted by an increase in prices due to the rise in global. Oat prices typically fall in February through April and peak again in the summer. However, if prices remain high, price competition from other producing countries is expected to take away from Canada's market share.
