A set of factors have led to the flowering period of Sugarplums trees in Chile starting the 2022-2023 season well. Unlike the last three years, this fall and winter rainfall has been good, and the sugarplum crops have optimal soil moisture. At the same time, there is a good snow reserve level in the mountain range, which ensures the supply of water for the summer, ensuring its availability for a good end of the season. Finally, winter pruning also worked well at the beginning of the cycle, with abundant labor available for orchard work. In the two previous years, for various reasons, including the pandemic, there was a labor shortage, and orchards were not pruned in the best way, leading to high production and detrimental effects on sizing.
