5% of common bean first crop has been harvested in the Brazilian state of Parana

The long drought in November affected several types of crops in Brazil, including common beans, one of the main staples of the Brazilian population. The largest producer region of the black beans and carioca varieties of common beans has harvested 5% of the planted area, 13% behind the same period last year. Condition wise, crops are classified as 79% good, 19% fair and 2% bad. Last year, crops were classified as 88% good, 11% fair and 1% bad in the same period.

The volume of common bean output forecast for the first crop in the state of Parana this year is 6% below, 298.1 thousand tonnes compared to 316.2 thousand tonnes in the previous year.
