Farmers and fruit wholesalers were also put under pressure by the COVID-19 movement control regulation (MCO) when they had to dispose of fruit and vegetables due to disrupted supply chains. Since the MCO came into force, more than 10,000 tonnes of fruit have been dumped in the Klang Valley. The reason for this is that farmers are confused by the unclear rules and conditions, many lorry drivers do not dare and many markets are closed.
