The European climate is not suitable for coconut production, so the European market relies heavily on imported coconuts, especially from the Southeast Asian countries. Furthermore, the increasing consumer health-awareness across the globe, and especially in Europe, has led to increasing demand for coconut oil. Virgin coconut oil (VCO) is particularly popular in the European markets as they are considered one of the healthiest edible oils to consume.
